The Rules

(Because there have to be rules, right?)


  1. This board is for the discussion of The Monkees. Feel free to discuss the boys as a group, or their individual, solo careers and projects. If you have a favorite Monkee, it's fine to express that, but don't flame any of the other three in the process.

  2. From time to time, we may disagree on a topic or subject that comes up, but we will discuss it in a mature manner. I want you to express your opinions, but you won't be rude to other members while doing it.

  3. We will keep the language and content of the posts and pictures clean, as we have young members who frequent our board. I, myself, have a young daughter who often sits with me while I read the posts. I want this board to be for everyone.

  4. Please don't use all caps. It's the same as yelling. It's very annoying to others and difficult to read.

  5. Under NO circumstances will I allow posts about the private lives of the Monkees, either harmful or simply inquiring. This board is to discuss their careers. Asking about their children's public careers is fine, but we won't speculate or gossip about their children, wives and/or girlfriends here, either positively or negatively. If a family member is too young to have a career, we won't discuss them at all. The Monkees' personal lives, and the lives of their family members, are private, and therefore none of our business, including their religion and/or belief systems. Basically, we want to respect the guys' personal lives. If they don't discuss it in public, then neither will we.

    Curiosity is natural, but sometimes we need to remember that even though Peter, Micky, Mike, and Davy are celebrities, they are also human beings, and have a right to their privacy.

    If there is ever a time when you want to ask a question about the guys or their families, and are not 100% absolutely sure that the question is OK to ask on the board, please feel free to email Lucy or any of the admins to see if it's ok.

    This rule also goes for the private lives of anyone, celebrity or not. Discussions about news stories are allowed, but please only discuss hard facts. Speculation will not be permitted.

  6. While it's understood that there are in existence bootlegs and non-authorized recordings and copies of material by the Monkees, group and individual, using Monkeeland for the promotion, sale, or trade of bootlegs and unauthorized material is strictly prohibited.

  7. This board is about the Monkees as a band, their individual careers, and their work with other artists. We have a great forum for discussion of all other of your favorite musicians and artists called "General Music Discussion" under the Non-Monkee Related header.

  8. Members should be aware that when the Admins send out an "all mail" - if your email address bounces the mail back, you may be removed from the board's active membership list. To help the board run smoothly, on an irregular basis the member list will be weeded out of members who haven't posted in quite a while. If either of the above happen to you, you will need to re-apply in order to post.

  9. Private messaging on Monkeeland is for folks to exchange private information on a scale acceptable to the general overall desire of Monkeeland to be a friendly place for fans to gather, chat, and even coordinate activities. Those discovered using their Monkeeland/Yuku accounts in any way, including PMs, for harassment, defamation, or escalation of problems between the board and / or other members will be subject to disciplinary action, including expulsion.

    The message board is NOT the appropriate place to complain about actions, events, posts, or comments by mods, admins, or other members. If you have a comment or complaint, please address it directly to Lucy, the forum mod(s) or an admin in an email or a PM. Those found to be disregarding this rule will be warned, and may ultimately be banned for refusal to comply.

  10. I can delete posts and ban users who don't follow these rules. I don't like censorship, but I will delete posts if I decide that they are offensive to me, another member, or one of The Monkees and I will ban any user who continues to break the rules after they've been warned.

  11. Most of all, I want everybody to have fun. I want everybody to enjoy posting here. So, if you have Monkee news, Monkee questions, a funny Monkee story, or a groovy Monkee pic, post it!!
