60's



The 60's - the decade that started it all. America was introduced to the Pre-Fab four and the pre-teens now had their own group to love, as their olders sisters had had with the Beatles. The Monkees may have been originally created in The Beatles image, but as many of us know, they soon took on an identity all their own. Listed below are a few highlights from each year. 1965
~ TV series pilot episode is filmed
~ Davy appears in "Ben Casey"

1966
~ Michael Blessing appeared on "The Lloyd Thaxton Show". Michael sang "Until It's Time For You To Go".
~ Rehearsals for the TV series begin. (February - April)
~ TV series debuts on NBC
~ Monkees hold their first live concert in Honolulu, Hawaii
~ 1966 - 1967 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR (December 1966 - May 1967)

1967
~ More of the Monkees is released
~ Headquarters is released
~ 1967 NORTH AMERICAN / BRITISH TOUR (June - August)
~ Second season of the TV show begins

1968
~ Head is filmed from 2/11 - 5/21
~ 1968 AUSTRALIAN / JAPANESE TOUR (September - October)

1969
~ 1969 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR - Dolenz, Jones and Nesmith (March - November)
~ 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkees airs on NBC
